Is my goal Christ, or to please others?
I was going to post on the dating topic that has gotten around to everybody's blog, but I decided not to head that direction, so hopefully this topic will be more appealing to you and won't create too much controversy.
So, tonight was the Stewardship, Thanksgiving and Praise service. It was really great and the worship was awesome. one of the secretarys at the church has worked there for 25 years and they had all her family come up to surprise her. well one of her sons now lives in Virginia, but he came to my church awhile back and was my sunday school teacher. i started talking to him after the service, just catching up and everything and he started talking about his youthgroup and asked me about mine.
I started telling him about the committee we now have and how it's just getting started. i mentioned the fact that the people on the committee are mostly the people who come to activities and have input in sunday school conversations. so he asked me why that is. i didn't know what to say at first, so i said that it's probably because i (and possibly others) tend to judge people by the way they act and what they talk about, and i see what is going on the outside and i don't feel comfortable with it, so I (we) don't reach out to them and make them feel comfortable about being with us. he just mentioned that really, what those people think doesn't matter at all in eterninty! if Christ was really evident in my life and i have an awesome relationship with him, i should want to share that with others NO MATTER WHAT!!
i was just thinking about that alot once i got home. why am i so afraid to voice my opinion of Christ and share the great news to others and encourage them to grow in their relationship with Christ and experience the joy in it? it makes me wonder if i truly have a deep relationship with my Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
so i started to look for some verses and i'll share them with you and if you have any comments please make them, but make sure it's encouraging and not tearing anybody down.
Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time,
but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light
the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts;
and then each man's praise will come to him from God.
I Corinthians 4:5
You have been given freedom: not freedom to do wrong,
but freedom to love and serve each other.
that's it for now, and more might be coming soon...
